This is the first of a 3 part series discussing why you can’t lose your belly fat. Now there may be more than these 9 reasons as to why you haven’t lost the ab fat, but these are the main reasons as to why. Let’s begin with how to get rid of your fat belly.
1. You consume too many calorie beverages.
If you are consuming soft drinks and lots of juices then you are consuming too many caloric beverages. One 12oz soft drink can contain 150 calories and who drinks just 1 soft drink can a day. Most drink bottles now which are 16 or 20oz and some drink the monster size soft drinks that contains over 600 calories.
Instead choose water or brew a large batch of green tea and keep handy so you can choose a low calories drink that is packed full of anti-oxidants. Some researchers believe that the ingredients in brewed green tea actually can help with fat loss so drink up and save the calories that will add fat instead of burn fat. This may very well be one of the hidden truths as to how to reduce belly fat.
2. You don’t eat at least 2 snacks a day along with the rest of your feeding opportunities.
By eating a combined 4-6 times a day can significantly decrease your risk of becoming obese by 30-40%. Why do you ask? You actually increase your metabolism when you eat more frequently. When you increase your feeding opportunities and eat lean protein along with a vegetable serving at each feeding opportunity you will actually burn more calories digesting the meal then if you were to eat a fast food meal or refined carbohydrates. Lean protein has what is called a high thermic effect which means it requires more calories to be burned when digesting it than carbs or fat. A high TEF is a great way to burn your belly fat so if you want to burn off the beer belly or beer gut then make it a necessity that you consume a lean protein source 4-6 times a day.
3. You skip breakfast because you are too busy and have to get to work.
When you skip breakfast you are telling your metabolism to wait another 5-6 hours before it gets any food. It has already waited 8-12 hours since your last meal and now needs to continue to wait to be fed. By fasting this long between feeding opportunities you force your metabolism to slow down and burn less calories so that your body can survive. You also stimulate your body to break down the muscle you have so that it can be used for energy. This also slows down your metabolism. If you want a sure fire way to a “big fat belly” then skip breakfast.
If you want a six pack that you can be proud of and have others asking you how to get rid of their belly fat then make sure you eat breakfast within 1 hour upon waking.
